I started bird watching and feeding birds at a young age, mostly just bulk seed in a hopper style feeder and watched the birds come in. Then realized we had hummingbirds in the neighborhood when I was standing in my father's garage one day, and thought a giant bumble bee was out to get me, only to find out it was the first hummingbird I'd ever seen!
Since then, I've started a family, and have passed the love of the outdoors and birding onto them. We have hummingbird feeders, oriole feeders, finch feeders, and hopper feeders in our yard, along with a bird bath, purple martin house, bluebird houses and 3 acres to play on! As we'd add to our collection of bird feeders and houses, I'd try to always purchase made in the USA bird feeders, as I do all the products I buy. I feel strongly about keeping jobs in America, and trying to support those companies that my family, friends and neighbors work for. As I starting dreaming about my birding business, there was no doubt in my mind that the bird feeders and houses that I would offer would be made in the USA, and would be quality products that I'd be proud to display in my own backyard.
Four years later, we are still growing. We offer a lot more products than we did four years ago, and I would still be proud to have every single one of them in my backyard. I try to find products that also help solve common birding problems, like our line of bee and wasp proof hummingbird feeders, our ant moats to keep ants out of your hummingbird or oriole nectar, the easy to clean Looker bird baths, oriole feeders which are bee and wasp proof, bat houses to help the bat population, which control insects for all of us, naturally, bluebird houses which are made to deter sparrows from nesting, squirrel feeders and squirrel baffles and supplies to keep squirrels out of your birdseed and suet feeders which are made for clinging birds, like the upside-down suet feeder, which makes it very difficult for starlings and sparrows to feed.
I created Barn in the Sticks to help support jobs in the United States, while offering great birding products. I hope you enjoy my site.
Sincerely,
