Some people enjoy watching the birds, but it is also fun and relaxing to walk out into your yard on a summer morning and hear the bird songs. Here are some great ways to attract them to your yard, and some solutions to problems that you can take care of from the beginning.
Let's start by saying that once you start feeding the birds, you will have large, bully birds coming to your feeders, taking away the beatiful little birds at some point. There are several ways to prevent this. First, offer seed that songbirds love, mealworms and thistle seed, most birds also enjoy black oil sunflower seeds, but you'll also attract grackles and larger birds. So if you start with a larger feeder, find one that is made for smaller birds, smaller perches, smaller feeding ports, and even a device on the perch which will activate motion for a larger bird.
